The Lincoln Memorial Shrine

A Lincoln Museum in Redlands, CA

Two hundred years after his birth, the life and legacy of Abraham Lincoln continues to fascinate and inspire. Born into poverty on the edge of an untamed frontier, his rise from obscurity to greatness has become a symbol of the universal hope that we can all improve our circumstances in life.

The Gettysburg Portrait

Taken just days prior to his delivery of the Gettysburg Address, this November 8, 1863 photograph became one of the best known likenesses of President Lincoln and is often referred to as the Gettysburg portrait. Taken by Alexander Gardner at Mathew Brady’s studio in Washington, DC, this was one of several poses captured by Gardner in this visit. Over the course of their professional relationship, Gardner shot over 38 images of Lincoln, more than any other photographer.
