William G. Hawkins (b1842, New York) was working as a clerk in North Stonington, Connecticut when the war began. He enlisted as a Corporal in Company G, 21st Connecticut Infantry. He was promoted to Sergeant of Company G in March, 1863 and 2nd Lieutenant of Company A in May, 1863. He was dismissed on January 23, 1864.
His postwar life is a mystery.
